In this project, I mainly study natural light.

During the lockdown, I discovered the importance of natural light to humans through my own experience. Through my experience, I felt the impact of the light sources on the human body and mind.

As for how I used natural light in my project, in the process of my research, I discovered the movie Parasite. In the movie, I was intrigued by the basement where the main character’s family lived. I think such a dim and dark living environment is very suitable for my project. To some extent, this film also tells the story of different social classes represented by different living environments, which makes me think about the relationship between people’s living environment and society Class. Therefore, in this project, I mainly want to achieve two goals: 1. Introduce natural light into the dark indoor environment (basement); 2. Use natural light to change the living environment, so as to help some people change the concept of living environment equal to social class.

In the investigation and research, I found that using materials can help me introduce sunlight into the dark space, so I conducted some material experiments, trying to understand the properties and functions of these materials as much as possible. Through a series of research, learning, and design ideas, my final design is to use these materials to design a chandelier with light absorption performance. Through environmental testing and experimentation, I have found that this chandelier can effectively help me bring natural light into a dark room.
