I want to introduce the functions of isolation and examination into the supermarket, and choose the Tesco nearby as an example.

“The Monster At Our Door”: Space as Medical Instrument Against Infectious Diseases
Mike Davis points out in his book The Monster At Our Door that, one of the reasons why infection has become a “global threat” to people is space. We are too close to the sources of infection. Modern infectious diseases have become a spatial problem. If a kind of infectious disease can be regarded as a kind of space, space becomes a strategy for controlling pandemic as a general prescription or a functioning medical instrument. Based on it, this project aims to highlight the spatial duty of keeping down the virus spread and preventing infectious diseases.
The whole research focuses on the medical effect space can provide to explore a kind of disease-free and heterotopias space through investigating the relationships between medicine and architecture, and disinfection measures space can provide. Combined with scientific and social issues, space demonstrates its medical potential to be speculated as a post-pandemic experiment.
During the lockdown period, supermarket delivery is the main way to get food and daily necessities in quarantine, however, it shows an insufficiency in transportation resources and concerns about food safety management. So, medical space is narrowed to a supermarket to be redefined and promoted as an essential example. The space, as a medical instrument, is constructed based on the healthy features to approach the medical effect, and filled with disinfection surveillance and examination. The aerial view of this construction is like an X-ray film to show body fragments.
In order to balance minimized human contact and shopping experience, a variety of mechanical devices preserving visual, olfactory, and tactile channels for the customers are designed to realize automation. Modular construction is applied because of its convenience and ease of promotion. A material language of white concrete, antiviral copper alloy and glass became standard issue in order to create hygienic, antiviral, and easy-to-clean surfaces.
Bio
Interior Design is the study of the interaction between people and space, which is easier to be combined with social, environmental, and human activities. A product, a performance, and an event are all included in it, which gives me a lot of room to play. As a designer, I wish to improve the traditional indoor environment with the development of modern technology, provide artistic resonance through interaction with space, and find undiscovered stories in urban space.
